Update: Politisite  calls the #NY09 congressional race for the Republican Bob Turner. Turner is the first GOP in district since 1923.  Turner beat Weprin by six percentage points as we (and the polls) predicted.

The Special Election that is to replace the Resigned Democrat Congressman Anthony Weiner looks like it may flip to the GOP. After all the Media attention to the Last New York Congressional election on the implications of the race and what it meant to the 2012 election was widespread and exaggerated.

From our position, we see the last and this election as nothing more than an unhappy electorate replacing a Congressman with the opposing party as a message that Americans are tired of amoral and lazy politicians. While Congressman Weiner was anything but lazy, his cocky attitude as a servant of the people is not being tolerated anymore.

So when the votes are all counted we expect that the Republican Turner will win by between 3-6 points.

Republican Last Won N.Y.’s Ninth District in 1920

For decades, winning the Democratic nomination in New York’s Ninth Congressional District has been tantamount to election.

But in Tuesday’s election, the Republican candidate, Bob Turner, may very well pull off an upset, if recent polls are any guide.

He would become the first Republican to carry the district since 1920, when Andrew N. Petersen, a Danish-born manufacturer of ornamental iron products, toppled freshman Representative David J. O’Connell.
